Jackson P. Tai Interim President and Chief Executive Officer
JACKSON P. TAI was appointed Interim President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2012. Mr. Tai has been a director since August 2008 and non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors since February 2009. Mr. Tai was Vice Chairman and CEO of DBS Group Holdings until 2008. Prior to his eight years of service with DBS in Singapore, he served 25 years with J.P. Morgan & Co. as a managing director in the Investment Banking Division, holding management positions in New York, Tokyo and San Francisco. Mr. Tai is a director of NYSE Euronext, the Bank of China Limited, MasterCard Incorporated, Royal Philips Electronics NV, Singapore Airlines and privately-held Cassis International. Mr. Tai, holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Thomas F. Moynihan Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
THOMAS F. MOYNIHAN was appointed as the Company's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective January 25, 2011. Mr. Moynihan, the Company's principal financial officer, has been with the Company in various senior positions since 1994, serving as Vice President, Finance since March 2009. Mr. Moynihan served as our Controller from 1994 until February 2001 and our Operational Vice President, Finance from February 2001 until March 2009. From 1978 until 1994, he served in numerous capacities in the planning and accounting departments at Filene's, a division of May Department Stores Company.
James M. Speltz Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
JAMES M. SPELTZ was appointed as the Company's Vice President, Chief Operating Officer in January 2012. From January 2011 until his recent appointment, Mr. Speltz served as the Company's Vice President, Business Development and Supply Chain. From July 2008 until January 2011, Mr. Speltz served as Operational Vice President, Inventory Management and Planning. From April 2003 to July 2008, he was Director of Planning and Analysis. From February 1998 to April 2003, Mr. Speltz held various positions in Project Management for E-Commerce and IT. Prior to joining Brookstone, Mr. Speltz served as a consultant for Daly & Wolcott, a Distribution Software company.
Steve Scharf Vice President, General Manager Retail
STEVE SCHARF was appointed Vice President, General Manager Retail in February 2012. From May 2010, until his recent promotion, Mr. Scharf served as the Company's Operational Vice President, Store Operations/Administration. Previously, Mr. Scharf worked in various management and executive positions over a 20-year career with Best Buy, Inc., with his last position prior to joining Brookstone, as the Vice President Customer Solutions Team. He has also been a consultant to other retail organizations, working on store operations and the customer shopping experience.
William E. Wood Vice President, Chief Information Officer
WILLIAM E. WOOD was appointed Vice President, Chief Information Officer in January 2011. Prior to this, he served as Operational Vice President, Chief Information Officer since joining Brookstone in March 2010. Mr. Wood has spent his career in retail, working in various management and executive positions with PetSmart, Inc., Revco Drug Stores, Inc., Darice, Inc., and Dollar General Corporation.
Robert M. Chessen Vice President, Human Resources
ROBERT M. CHESSEN has been Vice President, Human Resources since November 2010. Over his retail career, Mr. Chessen has served in senior level leadership positions in Human Resources with Crosstown Traders, Charming Shoppes, Inc., Gart Sports/Sportmart, and had a long distinguished career at May Department Stores both in the May corporate office and several operating divisions. In his last position prior to joining Brookstone, he was the Senior Vice President, Human Resources for GNC.
Stephen A. Gould Vice President, General Counsel
STEPHEN A. GOULD was appointed Vice President, General Counsel in January 2011. Prior to this appointment Mr. Gould was Operational Vice President, General Counsel since February 2010. From 2000 to 2010 Mr. Gould was a Partner at Nutter, McClennen & Fish, LLP specializing in mergers, acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, complex restructurings and recapitalizations, and corporate law. From 1992 to 1999 Mr. Gould held positions with several law firms specializing in real estate and corporate law.
Steven H. Schwartz Vice President, Merchandising and Product Development
STEVEN H. SCHWARTZ was appointed Vice President, Merchandising & Product Development in January 2011. Prior to this, he served in numerous senior merchandising roles, most recently as Operational Vice President, DMM Merchandising. Prior to joining Brookstone in 1999, Mr. Schwartz held a number of merchandising positions in both apparel and home divisions of May Department Stores from 1986 to 1999.
Deirdre A. Zimmermann Vice President, Marketing
DEIRDRE A. ZIMMERMANN was appointed Vice President, Marketing in January 2011. Prior to this, she held several positions within the company including Operational Vice President of Marketing. Before joining Brookstone in 2004, Ms. Zimmermann held creative and leadership roles in ad agencies and in-house marketing departments, working on such brands at Talbots, Fitigues and Ultimo.
